Assistantship Description: A graduate assistantship for an exceptional doctoral student is available at the Dwivedi Forest Sustainability Lab at the University of Georgia (UGA)’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. The incoming doctoral student will pursue research on optimizing supply chain for carinata (Brassica carinata) production in the southern United States towards commercial production of bio-jet fuels along with other cellulosic feedstocks (e.g., woody biomass) found in the region. The student is expected to complete his/her thesis within four years from the start date. Applications will be reviewed on first come first serve basis.

Qualifications: Candidates with related educational background and research/work experience are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a background in simulation and/or optimization modeling are preferred. Undergraduate students with some research experience are also encouraged to apply.

Stipend and Benefits: This assistantship will pay $23,943/year based on a 44% (18 hours/week) appointment. The student will receive a full-tuition waiver; however, is expected to pay a matriculation fee of $25 and mandated student and activity fees totaling approximately $1,135/semester. All students on assistantship are required to have health insurance, and a portion of the premium for the University System’s health insurance plan is paid by the UGA.

Currently, there are 10 graduate (8 PhDs, and 2 MS) students at the Dwivedi Forest Sustainability Lab.
